If you're looking for an educational or recreational summer program for your child, The Avery Coonley School offers many exciting and flexible options. The mission of ACS's Summer Program is to provide academically and physically challenging enrichment classes for curious kids, designed and taught by creative, experienced teachers. Recreational classes are also available, offering fun activities led by caring counselors and professional educators.
"We offer enriching classes that cover all curricular areas, including Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, Social Studies, Art, Music, Drama, and Physical Education, including instructional swimming," said Dave Dundek, director and a 27-year employee and teacher with ACS. "We offer the combination of outstanding enrichment classes and recreational activities on one site and in a beautiful, welcoming setting. We take full advantage of our gym, our theater, our outdoor swimming pool, our large outdoor space which includes a neighboring forest preserve, and all of our climate-controlled classrooms. But our greatest advantage over alternative summer programs is the caring and creative staff that welcomes each child into our Summer Program family."
ACS's Summer Program is also open to children who don't attend ACS. "In fact, almost 95% of our summer kids don't attend ACS during the school year," explained Dundek. "Our programs are for children who will turn 4 years old by the end of 2019 up to those who will enter 8th grade this fall. We offer three 2-week sessions, including full day programs, early morning and extended day programs, and a half-day program for preschoolers."
ACS's Summer Program tagline is "Enriching Your Child's Life", and it is what drives the staff as they work with the children. "If you've never visited our campus, I invite you to drive in or schedule a tour with me or with our Recreation Director, Sally Johnston," added Dundek. "We can be reached via email at firstname.lastname@example.org, at 630-969-0800 (ext. 2), or on our website at averycoonley.org/summerprogram."
