Celebrate National Catholic Schools Week With St. Joan of Arc

SPONSORED

National Catholic Schools Week, an annual celebration of Catholic Education in the United States, begins on the last Sunday in January.  The theme for 2019 is "Catholic Schools:  Learn.  Serve.  Lead.  Succeed.".  At St. Joan of Arc Catholic School in Lisle, students, teachers and families will celebrate this special week with Mass, an Open House, and other activities.

"The intention of National Catholic Schools Week is to showcase and celebrate how Catholic schools, and St. Joan of Arc in particular, develop students' sense of community, inspire their academic excellence, and deepen their faith," said Kelly Carr, Vice President of St. Joan of Arc's School Board.  "Prospective families are invited to attend the 9:30 am Mass on Sunday, January 27th at St. Joan of Arc Church.  Directly following Mass, tours of the school will be given which will highlight our academic excellence."

During the 10:30 am - 12:30 pm Open House at St. Joan of Arc School, current and prospective families will have the opportunity to visit classrooms, check out the Book and Art Fairs, see the Science & Technology program in action, and enjoy donuts and coffee.  "All attendees will have the chance to learn more about our Illinois Math and Science Academy (IMSA) program, SJA athletics, the News Show, Battle of the Books, Band, Cub Scouts, Inside Out Club, and Young Rembrandts," added Carr.

National Catholic Schools Week allows students to celebrate the unique opportunities offered by SJA School, including a focus on service projects within the community.  "This year we're partnering with the Humanitarian Service Project to collect new books to be donated to children in need throughout DuPage and Kane counties," explained Carr.  "Classes will also compete in a penny war, with the winning class choosing a local charity to receive the profits."
