Tuition assistance scholarship applications accepted through March

Would you like your child to have a Catholic school education but financially it seems just out of reach? A grant from the Catholic Education Foundation of the Diocese of Joliet can help make that dream a reality.

The CEF recognizes that for some parents, a parochial Catholic education can be hard to come by without financial help to offset tuition costs.

Through the Foundation's Scholarship Program, families who have students in kindergarten through senior year of high school and with a verified financial need are encouraged to apply for tuition assistance grants.

Scholarship applications are currently being accepted through March.

Annually, the Catholic Education Foundation distributes more than 1,600 need-based scholarships. Last year nearly $2.2 million was awarded to students.

The Catholic Education Foundation uses a third party company, FACTS Grant and Aid Company, in order to objectively evaluate the need for financial aid.

Families will be notified of grant awards in the spring and award checks will be sent directly to the schools following verification of enrollment in the fall.

Parents are also encouraged to apply to Empower Illinois at EmpowerIllinois.org to benefit from the state Tax Credit Scholarship program.

“In case a family is declined for one scholarship, they may be eligible for another form of tuition assistance,” said Joe Langenderfer, CEF executive officer. “It is wise for the student to apply to multiple scholarship sources.”
