3 Things You Should Understand About Dental Crowns

SPONSORED

When one of your teeth develops a problem, it’s important to have it fixed right away. The longer a diseased tooth goes untreated, the more damage it can cause to surrounding teeth, gum tissue, and even your jawbone. Dental crowns are a terrific solution for a variety of common tooth issues. Here are three things to know about dental crowns.

1. A dental crown offers a cover for a damaged or discolored tooth. It can fit in place of the tooth, or even on top of the tooth, like a cap. Crowns also work in concert with implants, in case a tooth has been removed or never grew in to begin with. Crowns are usually created with porcelain or ceramics, but in some instances can be forged from gold, acrylic, or metal alloys. Your dentist will recommend the material that will work best for your personal oral needs.

2. A crown can fix a multitude of dental issues. It’s amazing how many roles a crown can fill.
If you have a tooth that’s been worn down from teeth grinding, past restorations, or disease, or if a tooth has chips or cracks in it, a crown can be used to reshape it. Crowns can also repair and cover a broken tooth, or one that has been treated with a root canal. If your teeth have minor gaps or alignment issues, crowns can fix them. They can also be used to cover discolored or poorly shaped teeth to improve their aesthetic appearance, giving you a beautiful new smile.

3. In years past, dental crowns required multiple visits to your dentist. Today, however, teeth can often be prepped, and crowns can be fitted, in just a few hours. At Webster Cosmetic Dentistry, Dr. Webster offers advanced technological procedures to give her patients the best dental care possible. For more information about dental crowns, please contact:
