Chamber Salutes Jewels of Elmhurst

This month, the Elmhurst Chamber of Commerce & Industry will honor 18 select members in arts and culture, community service, education and government who rank among the Jewels of Elmhurst.

“Salute to the Jewels of Elmhurst,” our Annual Spring Luncheon and Expo, will held at the Diplomat West Banquet Halls on April 25.

For nearly three decades, our Spring Luncheon has provided an annual platform for our Chamber to “salute” various business and not-for-profit categories within our membership.

Past honorees range from women pioneers (1997) to multi-generational family businesses (2010), from octogenarian leaders (1998) to 25-year-plus members (2013), and from women business owners (2006) to those in community service (2015).

This year’s honorees combine to make Elmhurst a more special place to live, work and play, and are assets rarely found yet often sought by our peer communities.

Our four local bodies of government—City of Elmhurst, Elmhurst Community Unit School District 205, Elmhurst Park District and Elmhurst Public Library—are award-winning stewards of the property taxes paid by their commercial and residential constituents by providing forward-looking programs, services and events, along with well-maintained facilities and infrastructure.

Led by nationally-ranked Elmhurst College, our city is a magnet for attracting top-flight educators to public, private and parochial institutions. While District 205 ranks among the finest public school systems in the state and nationally, Immaculate Conception (Catholic Prep and Grade School) and Timothy Christian schools connect first-class learning with their spiritual faiths for students from Kindergarten through high school.

Arts and culture in Elmhurst is thriving with activity, attested to by the Elmhurst Art Museum, Lizzadro Museum of Lapidary Art, Elmhurst History Museum, Elmhurst Symphony Orchestra, Elmhurst Choral Union, GreenMan Theatre Group and, yes, even the York Theatre.

Elmhurst American Legion THB Post 187 and the Elmhurst YMCA have served needs across our community since 1919 and 1952, respectively.
