Since 2015, the Catholic Education Foundation has been hosting an event called “Angel for a Day” in various schools throughout the Diocese of Joliet.
Through a student-led, school Open House, benefactors are invited to intermingle with students and see how their contribution dollars are being used.
This year Holy Ghost School in Wood Dale will play host to the Angel for a Day visit, slated for Thursday, Nov. 2.
Those who wish to attend can participate in a variety of ways, such as interacting with students in a classroom setting, witnessing the students' musical or theatrical talent, and participating in faith-sharing activities.
The event will culminate with a luncheon at Glen Oak Country Club in Glen Ellyn for the participants who will also get to hear the personal witness of a current ‘CEF Scholar’ who receives scholarship funding from the CEF.
The Catholic Education Foundation began in 1996 to help provide financial aid to qualified students to attend elementary and secondary Catholic schools throughout the Diocese of Joliet.
And there is no shortage of ways for donors to help further the Foundation’s purpose.
Opportunities include outright gifts, corporate sponsorships, donor-named scholarships, charitable gift annuities, stock donations, endowed scholarships, and donor-advised funds, among others.
Through annual or multi-year contributions, the Catholic Education Foundation is able to distribute more than 1,600 need-based scholarships exceeding $2 million each year for students to attend Catholic elementary and high schools in the Diocese of Joliet.
