The Glen Ellyn Park District has some outstanding programs for seniors lined up for 2017.
Tax day is quickly approaching so April 18 will be here before we know it. Because doing taxes can be so complex, especially as one gets older and undergoes financial changes, the Glen Ellyn Park District is offering tax help. Simply call (630) 858-2463 for more information.
One of the biggest concerns, in addition to health, that seniors cope with is losing their independence. Losing their driver’s license is something that many fear. Thankfully, they’ve got a partner in the Glen Ellyn Park District to help keep them safely on the road.
The Rules of the Road program will brush up attendees on traffic law before they have to take their driver’s license renewal exam. It includes a traffic sign review and practice test. July 16.
The AARP Driver Safety Program will teach you how to be a safer driver by sharpening your defensive driving skills. What’s more, if you complete this course you are entitled to a reduction on your auto insurance premiums. Two sessions: July 12-13 and August 16-17.
Looking for good fun, great food and a lot of laughs? You can find all of that at the Senior Luncheons. These are scheduled from noon until 2 p.m. at the Maryknoll Clubhouse with food, games and raffles. The next ones are May 9, June 13 and July 11.
There are also Weekly Drop-ins. You can call Jessica at (630) 942-7264 for more information. The Tuesday SARC Seniors is offered on the first and third Tuesday of the month at the Spring Avenue Recreation Center, with coffee, cards and bingo from 9:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. There’s also the Retired Rhythm Rascals every Tuesday at 10 a.m. with Traditional Dixieland Jazz rehearsals at the MSRC (Main Street Recreation Center).
