Car break-ins reported
Two cars were burglarized Aug. 2 outside the Hyatt hotel, 1150 Arlington Heights Road.
In the first incident, a global positioning unit was stolen from a car after its passenger-side window was shattered. The theft was reported at 1:30 a.m.
In the second incident, a global positioning unit was stolen from a car after its driver’s side window was broken. That theft was reported at 5:15 a.m.

Glendale Heights
Vodka bottles stolen
A man stole 10 bottles of Grey Goose Vodka from Target, on the 100 block of Army Trail Road, and then fled the scene in a gray car. The incident was reported at 9:15 a.m. Aug. 1.
According to police, a security camera did get the license number of the vehicle, and police are investigating the case. No value was given on the vodka.

Propane tanks switched
A resident along the first block of Drummond Avenue reported that someone switched a full propane tank for his gas grill with an almost empty tank. The incident was reported at 4 p.m.  Aug. 2.

Catalytic converter cut
A resident on the 400 block of Gregory Avenue reported that someone cut the catalytic converter off her vehicle. The incident was reported at noon July 31. No value was given on the car part.

Gucci purse stolen
A Bloomingdale woman reported that a car window was broken, and a Gucci purse stolen from the passenger seat of the car. The incident was reported at 9 a.m. July 31 in a lot on the 200 block of East Army Trail Road. No value was given on the purse.

Garage, car burglarized
Several bottles of liquor, several cans of Monster energy drink and snowboarding equipment were stolen from a garage on the 200 block of Strathmore Lane between 10 p.m. July 29 and 2 a.m. July 30. A thief used a garage-door opener stolen from a vehicle parked outside the home to gain entry to the garage.
A global positioning unit also was stolen from the car.

Fountain tipped over
A large stone fountain was tipped over between 10 p.m. Aug. 1 and 3:30 a.m. Aug. 2 in the front yard of a home on the 200 block of Raven Lane.
Damage was estimated at $2,500.

Woman faces DUI
Margaret Ward, 48, 21W732 Glen Valley Drive, Glen Ellyn, was charged with speeding, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and driving under the influence of alcohol at 9:30 p.m. Aug. 2 near Army Trail Road and Harvard Lane.

Drunken driving charged
Charles E. Smith, 58, 190 Waters Edge Drive, Unit 301, Glendale Heights, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and improper lane use at 2:45 a.m.  Aug. 3 near Army Trail Road and Regency Drive.

Man faces DUI charge
Louis Kronish, 28, 837 Napa St., Carol Stream, was charged with drunken driving at 4:45 p.m. July 30 on the 500 block of Schmale Road.

DUI, suspended license alleged
Gregorio Alcantara, 38, 706 Bluff St., Unit 201, was charged with drunken driving and driving with a suspended license at 9:15 p.m. Aug. 2 on the 800 block of Idaho Street.

Disorderly conduct charged
Haseeb A. Moten, 19, 954 Hillcrest Drive, and Yousef U. Ahmed, 19, 1071 Brighton Drive, both of Carol Stream, were charged with disorderly conduct at 1 a.m. July 25 near Sandhurst and Hundington avenues.

Two computers stolen
Two computers were stolen from a residence along the 1300 block of New London Street. Entry was gained through an unlocked back door. The incident was reported at 8 a.m. Aug. 4. No loss estimate was given.

Charged with fleeing
Jeremy M. Green, 22, of Glendale Heights, was charged with fleeing or eluding an officer during an attempted traffic stop and reckless driving on the 200 block of Irving Park Road at about 9 a.m. July 26.
 
Gaming system stolen
A resident on the first block of Portwine Drive reported at 2:45 p.m. July 26 that someone took a gaming system and a wallet during the night.
 
Man faces DUI charge
Karthik Reddy Vangapally, 24, of Chicago, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after police stopped him on the 300 block of East Irving Park Road at 2 a.m. July 27.
