A Bartlett High School student who asked a girl to prom by spraying graffiti on the outside of the school was arrested Tuesday.
“We’ve seen students draw with chalk outside the school, but we’ve never seen anything like that,” said Sgt. Mike McGuigan.
The 17-year-old student, Timothy Santos, 2105 Pennsbury Lane, Hanover Park, was arrested along with Joseph Dugenia, 19, of Chicago; Raul Valdez, 19, 642 Adam Lane, Carol Stream, Hao Tran, 20, 1390 Sandcherry Lane, West Chicago, on charges of criminal defacement of property.
Only Santos attended the school, but all four men look part in the defacement, which was discovered early Sunday morning on the south side of Bartlett High School, 701 Schick Road, McGuigan said.
Police were able to identify the graffiti artist from his “tag” name — a pseudonym represented with initials and an image — sprayed on the wall. Officers were able to find the tag on a MySpace account, which lead them to student.
The men are issued a court date at 9 a.m. April 22 at the DuPage County Courthouse in Wheaton.
