A 16-year-old male was charged with burglarizing a Bartlett home and possession of cannabis Sunday.

Around 8 a.m. Sunday, the Bartlett Police Department responded to the 1300 block of Tamarack Drive for a report of a residential burglary in progress. The homeowner discovered his house was burglarized after he arrived home, officers said.

The juvenile suspect exited the residence and drove away in a dark-colored Ford Explorer towards West Bartlett Road, according to police. Police located the vehicle near the 1100 block of West Bartlett Road, where the teen fled on foot, officers said. Police immediately set up a perimeter and apprehended him, recovering a video gaming system that was stolen from the Tamarack Drive home, according to reports.

The teen was charged a Class 1 Felony for residential burglary and a Class C Misdemeanor for unlawful possession of cannabis. He was petitioned to Cook County Juvenile Court and was transported to the Cook County Juvenile Detention Center located at 1100 S. Hamilton in Chicago.
