• The Woman’s Department Club of Wheaton will celebrate its 92nd anniversary this year. The club is a philanthropic and social group of around 100 local women. On Sept. 9, they will host their annual Friendship Breakfast at St. Daniel the Prophet Church in Wheaton. They welcome current members, new members and guests. • The first Glen Ellyn Woman’s Club meeting of the 2008-09 club year will feature Chicago history detective Victor Giustino presenting “Unknown Chicago.” The program begins at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, in the Glen Ellyn Civic Center, 557 Duane St. Giustino, a Chicago scholar, has given more than 500 tours of the city. • The Animal and Veterinary Interest Student Association will hold its first Care Walk for Canines on Saturday, Sept. 20, in the Elmhurst College Mall, 190 S. Prospect Ave. Registration will take place from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. The walk will begin at 9:45 a.m. and covers a one mile course around Elmhurst College Mall. Cost is $10 per person. • Boot Camp classes are being offered Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning Sept. 30 through Nov. 6 from 6:15 to 7:05 a.m. at the Oakbrook Terrace Park District Fitness Center, 1 Parkview Plaza. Boot Camp is a conditioning class that utilizes a military style format to help you achieve your fitness goals. The class will be held both indoors and outdoors and will include strength training and cardiovascular exercises. The fee is $80 per person. For further information, call (630) 574-0420.

• The Step by Step PTA Fall/Winter Clothing and Toy Resale will be held from 7:15 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, at DuPage County Fairgrounds, Building 4, 2015 W. Manchester Road, Wheaton. • The Garden Club of Bensenville will hold its next monthly meeting at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 11, at the Bensenville Community Public Library, 200 S. Church Road. Refreshments will be served prior to the meeting and program. The program, “Pressing and Preserving Flowers,” will be given by Carol Livingston, artist and resident of Bensenville. Prospective new members are most welcome.

• The DuPage Community Foundation has announced it has hired Jessica Daley of Carol Stream as its new associate grants coordinator. In her new role she will support the director of grants in administering the foundation’s various grant, scholarship and other program-related activities, as well as provide support to the development and finance and administration departments.
