Glen Ellyn artist Tim Bott describes his art as expressive calligraphy. In other words, he uses his talents to express the meaning of words.
His current project is a work of art for Adventist GlenOaks Hospital in Glendale Heights, which will be unveiled during the hospital’s 30th anniversary celebration this month.
Bott works part time as a graphic designer for Tyndale House Publishers in Carol Stream, where he has worked since 1976.
His paintings, which can be seen on his Web site www.timbotts.com, have a Christian theme.
“That’s very much a part of who I am,” Bott said.
He moved from Pennsylvania to take his job at Tyndale because it is a Christian publishing house. He wanted to use his artistic abilities to advance the Gospel.
“That’s been the focus of my life,” Bott said. His work at Tyndale, he said, has given him a sense of purpose for his art.
For Adventist GlenOaks, Bott is designing the hospital’s mission statement to be hung in the lobby. His wife has worked at Adventist GlenOaks for the past 30 years.
“It’s pretty neat that I got to do that for the hospital where my wife has worked all these years,” Bott said.
When Bott first began as an artist he participated in Glen Ellyn’s annual art festival.
“I continued to show there most years,” he said. “Probably for 30 years. So I’m known in the community that way.”
