Geneva, IL -

“The Cubs, White Sox and Bears” will be the lively topic for legendary Chicago broadcast journalist John Callaway, when he interviews Lester Munson, senior writer and legal analyst for ESPN.com. A gourmet meal completes the evening Tuesday, Sept. 23, at Niche restaurant, 14 S. Third St., Geneva.

Before joining ESPN, Munson worked at Sports Illustrated from 1991 to 2007. He writes columns for Crain’s Chicago Business on both sports and politics. Some of his ESPN assignments this year have included the Congressional hearings on the steroid era in baseball, the prosecution of NFL star Michael Vick on dog-fighting charges, the prospect of an NFL work stoppage, and gambling charges against an NBA referee.

The award-winning writer and frequent television guest will share his inside knowledge of sports. “The conversation should prove to be entertaining sport,” said Patricia Spiroff, who handles publicity for the noted restaurant.

The presentation is part of the “After Dinner with John Callaway” series, in which Chef Jeremy Lycan and Sommelier Jody Richardson design a three-course menu with a choice of entrée and dessert, paired with complementing wines.

Callaway is perhaps best known as the founding host of WTTW’s “Chicago Tonight” news interview and analysis program. His work has been honored with more than l00 awards, including 17 Emmys. He is a member of the Chicago Journalism Hall of Fame.

The evening starts at 6:30 p.m. for the all-inclusive price of $125, with special seating at Callaway’s table available for $250. For reservations, call (630) 262-1000.
