The season's first measurable snowfall greeted residents of the Western suburbs this morning.
Aabout 1-3 inches accumulated across the region overnight, and has all but tapered off by mid-morning.
The snow made for some tough morning commutes, and the gusting winds — some up to 35 mph, according to the National Weather Service — complicated matters.
A winter weather advisory remains in effect for most of the region until noon today, according to the weather service.
Temperatures are in the mid- to high-20s, with windchills in the teens. Tonight's low is expected to bottom out at 17 degrees.
