Riverside Brookfield students have planned, sketched and painted.

They’ve worked nights, weekends and taken special school field trips to finish their project, and now, their 2,000 square foot mural on Riverside’s historic Arcade Building, 1 Riverside Road, is ready for its debut.

On Dec. 4 at a special dedication ceremony, the mural will be revealed. The building will be awash in lights throughout the holiday season.

Opening their eyes
Carli Evans, a Brookfield resident and freshman at Riverside Brookfield High School, said working on the project inspired her to pursue working as an artist in the future.

“I got involved with the project through my Fine Arts Survey class,” Evans said. “I came by after school to check out the mural, and I was hooked. Being around people who have been around paint for half their lives; it made you want to go home and grab a canvas and pick up a brush and start working.”

Evans added flowers and trees to the mural’s spring panel, and plans to attend the Dec. 4 ceremony with her family.

For more on the Arcade Building, see this Wednesday's edition of Suburban Life.
