Riverside, IL -

Voting is still open for the Riverside Library’s Edible Book Contest.
The library, at 1 Burling Road, used the Edible Book Contest as a way for their staff members to get creatively involved in the summer reading program.
“Edible Books are culinary creations made to resemble a book or movie title,” reads the library’s Web site.
Patrons are asked to vote online by going to www.riversidelibrary.org and clicking on the “Vote Online for Your Favorite Edible Book Now!” link.
There, patrons will find 12 different choices — from Mary Shelley’s “Frankenstein,” depicted in the contest as a hot dog in a beer stein, to Margery Williams’ “The Velveteen Rabbit,” whose display has a bunny cake sitting next to the well-known children’s book.
If a person does not have a computer at home, he or she can come into the library and vote online using the library’s computers. Voting ends July 31, at the end of the summer reading program, and then a winner will be chosen, based on which entry has received the most votes.
