School officials refuse to comment on whether there was an underlying reason behind the early resignation of Riverside Brookfield High School Superintendent/Principal Jack Baldermann last week.
When asked if Baldermann was asked to resign early, Board of Education President Jim Marciniak declined to comment.
When asked if Baldermann violated his contract, Marciniak declined to comment.
When asked if Baldermann acted inappropriately in any way to prompt his resignation, Marciniak declined to comment.
Comments from School Board members were also in scare quantity following Baldermann’s resignation. His last day at RB was to be June 30, but he bowed out seven days early to take time to pursue other opportunities, he said.
“I have other opportunities and am doing some consulting and I have some interviews and spending some time with my family,” Baldermann said.
Baldermann declined to comment on whether he has a new position lined up.
The unanimous acceptance of Baldermann’s early resignation took place after the Board of Education met in closed session, interim Superintendent David Bonnette said.
“The Board of Education hereby accepts the resignation of Superintendent/Principal Jack Baldermann effective immediately upon the adoption of this resolution,” Bonnette read from the resolution.
Baldermann sent his resignation letter, a two-sentence, hand-written note, to board members June 23, Bonnette said.
“I, Jack Baldermann, understand that by resigning at this time I will give up the insurance benefits outlined in the April 5 agreement,” the note said. “I also surrender any right to work as a consultant at District 209 as outlined in the April 5 agreement.”
The April 5 agreement stated Baldermann must commit to a minimum of 10 days and a maximum of 30 days of service as an independent contractor during a four-month period. He was to be paid $904 per day for his service during that time.
