• Adventist Hinsdale Hospital has been re-designated with a Level III standing for obstetric and neonatal care, hospital officials announced. This designation by the Illinois Department of Health certifies that Adventist Hinsdale Hospital offers the highest degree of quality care for high-risk moms and high-risk newborns, with 11 Level III NICU beds. There are currently three levels of nurseries in the United States, Level I, II and III. Level III nurseries provide the widest variety of advanced care available for all newborns. Adventist Hinsdale Hospital, part of the University of Chicago Perinatal Network, was first designated as a Level III obstetric and neonatal care center in 2000.

 

• Congratulations to Tressa Luttrell, who was named the Illinois Parks and Recreation Association (IPRA) Facility Management Fitness Manager of the year. The award was presented at the IPRA Facility Management and Recreation Section 2008 Annual Joint Awards Luncheon on Nov. 7 at the Glendale Lakes Golf Club of the Glendale Heights Park District. The award is presented to someone who is a member of the Facility Management section, participants in a  leadership roll in the section, contributes to the advancement of the parks and recreation field within the community, is a major contributor to the parks and recreation profession and is state certified as a Certified Park and Recreation Professional. She  has contributed to the Roselle Park District in particular.

 

• Noah’s Ark Animal Workshop presents the Gingerbread Friends Stuff-N-Fluff Workshop at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2, at the Downers Grove Lincoln Center. Cost is $14 per person. Make the holidays special with Raphael Reindeer or Gingerbread Bear. Complete a holiday coloring activity and eat a tasty treat. • The Downtown St. Charles Partnership is inviting nominations for its Downtown Pride Award, given annually to individuals, businesses or organizations that have made outstanding contributions to the revitalization of the downtown district. According to Laura Haule, chairman of the DSCP’s Organization Committee, the silver fox statuette has become one of the most coveted awards presented by any St. Charles organization. Nominees must fulfill several very specific qualifying criteria. Nomination forms must be submitted to the Partnership office by Dec. 31. • Fimreite Chiropractic, 4727 Willow Springs Road, LaGrange, is collecting non-perishable food items for those less fortunate this Thanksgiving. In exchange for 10 can food items or a $20 donation to LaGrange Area Pantries, anyone can receive a free chiropractic consulation, complete spinal exam and x-rays, a $235 value.
