A busy weekend of arts and music will kick off tonight at the Route 66 Museum at 7003 Ogden Avenue where area sculptor Mike Helbing will open a new exhibit.
The artist will be present to discuss his work tonight from 5:30 to 9 p.m. and the exhibit will also be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
The Harlem Avenue Lounge at 3701 Harlem Ave. will host bluesmen Studebaker John and the Hawks at 9:30 p.m. Saturday. A $6 cover will be charged at the door.
Hometown artists will also be given a chance to shine this weekend at the Music in the Street Festival. That event will take place at the intersection of Stanley and Grove avenues from noon to 7 p.m. Sunday. Artists include American Tramp, 12 Gauge Noise, Thin Grin and The Oldsmobiles.
Finally, the Berwyn Park District will host a Concert in the Park event in Proksa Park, 3001 Wisconsin Ave., at 3 p.m. Sunday. That event will feature Denny Diamond and the Family Jewels.
