Mitch Nawara's coveted art collection focused on women will be shown at Glitch Gallery in Elmhurst for the first time since his death in 1996. A reception for the group show is planned Friday evening, Feb. 26. Nawara's artwork has appeared in galleries, arts shows and private collections around the United States.
Also included in this art show devoted to women's faces and forms are works by six other artists.
• Elmhurst artist Susan Faermark, portrait artist, who studied under Grace Cole and is represented by Friedman Fine Art Chicago
• Elmhurst artist Donna Castellanos, vintage mixed-media artist, featured at Elmhurst Art Museum's Art in the Park
• Lombardian artist Theresa Lyon, first-place winner at the 2009 DuPage Invitational Sculpture and 3D Art Show
• French painter Chantal Philipon, whose collections are featured all over the world
• Wisconsin artist Phil Saxon, who is represented in many art galleries and travels the arts festival circuit around the country
• Geneva artist, Betty Baumer, represented in local art galleries and exhibits at local arts festivals
Meet the artists at the unique Glitch Gallery inside the Mecca Building at a reception from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 26, at 110 W. Park Ave. The building also houses Effigy Salon, Park Avenue Wellness Center, and Flight 112, which features its Five Dollar Fridays ($5 select wine and food menu), with live music by Scottie Long. Guests are asked to bring a used women's accessory (jewelry, scarf, hat ) or a used article of clothing for the Family Shelter Re-Sale Shop. Proceeds will be donated to the Battered Women's Shelter.
