
Thanks to a balanced, powerful attack and impressive defense at the net, Glenbard East defended its home court Tuesday night with its biggest win of the year, defeating two-time defending state champion Wheaton Warrenville South 25-19, 21-25, 25-15.
Senior middle blocker Piotr Dabrowksi slammed home a team-high 11 kills and posted an impressive 11 blocks for the Rams (9-0, 3-0 DuPage Valley Conference). Setter Mark Jones, who has committed to George Mason University along with Dabrowski, tallied 10 kills, six blocks and also dished out 16 assists.
Outside hitter Tim Lovik posted nine kills, six digs and several big serves in the third game, in which the hosts scored 18 of the final 24 points to overcome a 9-7 deficit.
Senior setter Jason Jaent had a team-best 18 assists and defensive specialist Mark Kunberger snagged 12 digs.
This was Glenbard East's third win over Wheaton Warrenville South in the last four matches between the two DVC powers.
