WHEATON – After more than half of the student body of Edison Middle School called in sick Monday, the DuPage County Health Department has announced the identity of the mystery illness.
HINSDALE – On Nov. 30, Hinsdale Central Boosters Advance the Arts will host Central Casting, a fundraiser featuring former and present Hinsdale Central students performing selections from various theatrical productions and Broadway shows.

LEMONT – When U.S. Army National Guard Infantryman Jonathan Farmer visited St. Alphonsus/St. Patrick School on Veterans Day, the teachers were struck by the stature of the boy who graduated from their school in 2006.
WHEATON – Wheaton Mayor Mike Gresk visited second graders at Washington Elementary School after teacher Lea Russelle assigned her students to write letters to him explaining what they would do if they were mayor for a day.
GLEN ELLYN – Celebrating Bus Driver Appreciation Week, the FOR (Friends of Rachel) Club at Glen Crest Middle School treated Illinois Central bus drivers and office staff to a pancake breakfast Oct. 30.

BOLINGBROOK – A performing arts group presented a current issues-oriented performance at Brooks Middle School Nov. 4, highlighting the tragic consequences of the influx of narcotics in the western suburbs for the school’s eighth-graders.
DOWNERS GROVE – Local dealership Zeigler Chrysler helped to raise $900 for O’Neill Middle School and raise awareness for bullying prevention with Chrysler brand’s "Drive for the Kids" program.
WEST CHICAGO – Gary Elementary School in West Chicago celebrated Veterans Day Nov. 11 with a visit from veterans, who came to classes to share their experiences and participated in an assembly with students that included a sing-along with military anthems and partiotic songs.
GLEN ELLYN – Glen Ellyn School District 41 will move forward with the bid process for its proposed project to add 16 elementary school classrooms across four buildings for an estimated cost of about $15.6 million.
WOODRIDGE – Sometimes finding a way to make volleyball practice educational and fun is a challenge but when the St. Scholastica School eighth-grade girls’ volleyball team made a fundraiser out of practice, the girls found a way to combine both.
