Former Wheaton North football head coach Matt Foster has landed with his former head coach John Thorne at North Central College.
Foster played for Thorne at Wheaton Central High School, and soon after embarked on a coaching career that took him to Salisbury (Md.) State University, Central Connecticut State, the College of DuPage and then to Wheaton North.
Foster joins the Cardinals as a defensive backs coach and special teams coordinator. As defensive coordinator at Salisbury State he helped the team reach the NCAA Division III national championship game. As an assistant at COD he twice helped the Chaparrals to the national championship game.
"The reason I'm here is coach Thorne," Foster said. "He was very influential in my decision to pursue coaching, and he helped shape the kind of coach I decided I wanted to be. I'm excited about the opportunity to learn even more, and maybe I can give something back."
