
Connor Powers, a Naperville resident and graduate of Benet Academy in Lisle, was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 11th round of the Major League Baseball amatuer draft.
Powers, a junior at Mississippi State, was pick No. 337 overall. This season with the Bulldogs he hit .301 with 59 hits and started in 53 of MSU's 54 games.
He led the team with 19 home runs, 15 doubles, 49 runs scored and 63 runs batted in.
As senior with Benet in 2006 Powers finished with a.460 batting average, 16 home runs, 63 runs batted in and 48 runs scored. At the time his RBI total was in the top 25 all time in Illinois' single-season record books, and his home run total was in the top 20.
