Accomplishment

• Tamara J. Fetzer, Danica Murphy and Kirk Williamson, all of Naperville, were among 75 Aurora University sophomores inducted into the school’s chapter of Phi Eta Sigma national honor society Nov. 3. Founded in 1923 at the University of Illinois, the society recognizes freshman academic achievement. Aurora  University's chapter, founded in 1990, is among 300 chapters nationwide. Candidates must be full-time students for three terms and earn a 3.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale for at least one term.

•  Elizabeth Hudson, of Naperville, has been selected as this year’s College of DuPage Lincoln Academy Student Laureate nominee. Elizabeth is an Honors Scholar with a 3.89 grade point average. She is an active member of Phi Theta Kappa and the Forensics Club, and is also vice president of the Accounting Club and financial coordinator of the Student Leadership Council. An accounting major at C.O.D., Elizabeth plans to transfer to Northern Illinois University to study Forensic Accounting.

Scholarships available

• The CBAI Foundation for Community Banking has announced its 2008 Annual Scholarship Program which enables Illinois high school seniors to enter a statewide essay-writing contest. The total amount of money offered is $16,500. A scholarship in the amount of $1,000 a year for up to four years of higher education will be awarded to the author of the best essay submitted to the CBAI Foundation by a participating Illinois high school senior. As many as 12 additional $1,000 awards are available, one in each of the remaining 12 CBAI-designated regions of the state. An additional $500 will be awarded to the high school of the statewide recipient.

Entries must be received by the CBAI Foundation via the sponsoring bank by noon on Monday, Feb. 11, to be eligible for judging. Scholarship funds will be awarded in April and May. To acquire a list of participating CBAI member banks, visit www.cbai.com.
