Shirley Howland, ticket coordinator for Sun City’s Prairie Singers Spring concert, said as of May 22 there was still time — short as it was — for a last-minute chance to purchase the limited number of concert tickets.
The shows are scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, May 31, and 6 p.m. Sunday, June 1, at the Huntley High School Performing Arts Center.
Between today’s publication date, May 29, and the show dates, remaining tickets can still be purchased on a first-come, first-served basis at three local banks: Castle Bank, Citizens Bank and Harris Bank.
And of course, depending upon last minute sales, tickets will be available at the door.

Tax savings reminder for all homeowners
The Property Assessment Council, a Sun City resident volunteer group, recently posted the following tax savings reminder on the community Web Portal for eligible home owners.
The complete memo can be accessed on the portal under the special interest groups link titled Property Assessment Council.
The following text contains memo highlights:
The Sun City Property Assessment Council has identified 274 properties that were eligible to receive the Senior Exemption in 2006 but did not receive the exemption in 2007. This translates into a $225 property tax bill increase for 2007. SunCPac is in the process of recruiting volunteers to notify the parcel owners of the oversight. Based on a 2006 notification program, it was determined that most owners were not aware that an application needs to be submitted each year in Kane County. Those in McHenry County do not need to apply every year.
Check your recent tax bill. Questions? Contact the Kane County Assessor at (630) 208-3818 or the McHenry County Assessor at (815) 334-4290.
Interesting survey data
As of May 22, 249 Sun City residents responded to a survey regarding their attending or viewing the most recent Community Association Management quarterly Board of Directors meeting.
The question asked was: “Did you attend the last quarterly meeting of the Board of Directors?” These were the answers: 52 were present; 23 watched the simulcast on Channel 96; 17 watched a rebroadcast; and 117 did not view or attend the meeting.
Parade preparations underway
Get ready for the ninth annual Golf Cart Parade, scheduled for 12:30 p.m. Sunday, June 29, on Drendel Boulevard. This year, walkers, bicyclists and motorcyclists are invited to get in line and join the parade. Clubs and special-interest groups are encouraged to join the fun with some type of representation.
There are no entrance fees for participants.
Our local Huntley Citizens Bank is sponsoring the activity.
