Cicero, IL -

Q How will the school board develop the new superintendent’s goals?
A The members of the Morton High School District 201 school board work collaboratively with our superintendent to both assess the challenges facing our school district and construct a vision for fully addressing those challenges that lie before us. Working together, the board and the superintendent identify the goals necessary to achieve our vision, how progress on those goals will be monitored and measured, and how and when progress towards achieving the district’s vision will be communicated to the school board.

Q How will the board measure successful completion of the goals?
A Morton High School District 201 will measure progress through an on-going evaluation process. The evaluation will seek to gather public opinion from district parents and residents to better form the school board’s vision, identify clear benchmarks on the way to fully attaining its goals, and set a time table for the accomplishment of these goals and the implementation of the school board’s vision. Finally, we will devise and implement a communications strategy to keep parents, faculty, and other District 201 stakeholders informed.

Q What role does the public have in holding the superintendent accountable for the goals?
A The school board of Morton High School District 201 is regularly engaged with parents and other stakeholders in our district family to share with them our vision for a brighter future for our district. The school board also seeks the input of the stakeholders as to the progress of the district. We regularly seek to keep parents informed of the changes being made through many avenues, including our regular monthly school board meetings, the district’s Web site at www.jsmortonhs.com, and through our weekly e-mail newsletter.

Q How will public access to the goals influence how they are created in the future?
A The school board will always seek out the opinions and thoughts of the most important people in our district: the parents, guardians and other stakeholders who our schools serve. Public input, at our regular board meetings, via written correspondence, telephone communication and through other available public forums, will serve to help both parents and stakeholders in understanding the needs and challenges facing our district.
