Q: How did the school board develop these goals?
A: This past April, four new members joined the School Board of Community Unit District 201. Currently our board is in the developmental stages of creating new goals in conjunction with a multi-year strategic plan.

Q: How do you measure successful completion of the goals?
A: The real measure of success in all parts of our schools are the successes of our students. In the future, specific achievements should be cited whenever possible, and documentation should be supplied to verify the successful completion of the goals.

Q: What role does the public have in holding the superintendent accountable for the goals?
A: The School Board has the duty to keep the public informed of all district goals, including those of the superintendent. As we gear up to revisit the district’s strategic plan, the community is encouraged to actively participate in this process. As the board works towards redefining these goals, the input of all our stakeholders is necessary.

Q: How will public access to the goals influence how they are created in the future?
A: By continuing to build connections, and communication with all our stakeholders, this process will reflect the needs of the students, support for the educators and echo the interests of the community. The superintendent and the board must answer the question, “What does our community want from our schools?” And then the goals will fall into place.
