Officials in Lemont-Bromberek Combined School District 113A are asking parents to help them get an estimate as to how many students plan to take part in the H1N1 vaccination program tentatively scheduled during the school day Jan. 14.
The program would be free to students in kindergarten through eighth grade. Surveys e-mailed to parents need to be back to the district by Monday, Nov. 23. School officials remind parents a completed survey is not a consent form for the vaccination program and that parents are not making a commitment by completing the anonymous surveys.
The voluntary vaccination program is a recommendation by the Cook County Department of Public Health. The administration of the vaccines will be done by medical professionals. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has recommended that children and young people from six months through age 24 receive the H1N1 vaccine when it becomes available.
