William Simon of La Grange, a senior at Marmion Academy, Aurora, was named an Illinois State Scholar by the Illinois Student Assistance Commission. Illinois State Scholars rank in the top 10 percent of the state’s 147,000 high school graduating seniors.

Twenty-nine area residents were named to the spring-semester dean’s list at Benedictine University, Lisle.

Lyons residents were recently named to the fourth-quarter honor roll at Berwyn’s Morton West High School.

Five residents were named to Cicero’s Morton College spring-semester president’s list. To qualify for the president’s list, students must earn a minimum 3.75 grade-point average on a 4.0 scale. Students include Countryside resident Emiliano Perez; Lyons residents Nicholas Erwin, Scott Granitz and Drew  Moorman; and McCook resident Augustin Padilla.
