The village of Lombard will hold a full-scale disaster drill on Sept. 29.
The drill is part of the village’s disaster and emergency planning department, and will be held in conjunction with numerous local and county departments including the DuPage County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, the DuPage County Coroner and Elmhurst Memorial Hospital. Representatives from each participating agency have been planning for the event for the past year.
To ensure proper readiness, specific details of the drill are not available.
The drill is intended to test the village’s ability to deploy resources, work in conjunction with outside agencies, and provide response to the public in the event of a disaster hitting the village.
The village has chosen Oct. 6 as an alternative date for the drill.
