Lombard, IL -

Lombard resident Stefan S. Staev, 26, was killed Wednesday night in a Chicago crash involving a truck tractor semi-trailer, passenger vehicle and motorcycle.

Staev was riding a motorcycle in the local lanes at 30th Street and Interstate 94 in Chicago when a minivan stopped in traffic. Staev was unable to avoid the minivan and rear-ended another passenger vehicle, causing him to fall in the right lane of traffic, where he was hit by a semi-trailer. The impact killed Staev.

Lanes of traffic surrounding the crash were closed for about two hours, according to a Illinois State Police news release issued shortly after the accident around 7 p.m. Wednesday.

The Staev family was unavailable for comment as of Thursday afternoon.
