
DuPage County State’s Attorney Joe Birkett will join 10 other panelists for a discussion at Glenbard East High School later this month.
Glenbard District 87 will present “Parents, Teens, Parties and the Law,” a panel discussion on the realities of today’s teen scene, at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 14 at Glenbard East High School, 1014 S. Main St., Lombard.
Issues including teens’ difficult choices and potential life-saving information will be discussed, with a pre-meeting discussion beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Birkett will be joined on the panel by Judges Blanche Fawell and Jane Mitton; Linda Lewaniak, clinical director Addiction Medicine Alexian Brothers Behavioral Health Hospital, Glenbard West assistant principal for athletics Linda Oberg; Binita Donohue, Glenbard East school social worker; Kathleen McNamara, Carol Stream Police Department social worker; Carol Stream police officer Pedro Castro; school resource officers George Pappas, Mike Summerville and Manny Camuy. Also attending the panel will be a Glenbard parent with a tragic story to share.
No registration is required for the discussion, and it is open to parents from all Glenbard District 87 schools and surrounding high schools.
All Glenbard parents that attend the panel discussion will be entered into a prize drawing of prom and post-prom party tickets and other prom-related items.
