When school lets out, most students dread the day they are given a list of chores that includes painting, but not Faraz Kamran.
This summer, painting houses will be one large step toward Kamran’s ultimate goal of owning his own business in the future.
Kamran, a 2008 Glenbard East graduate, will spend his summer running his own company of employees as part of an internship with College Works Painting.
“I just love it,” Kamran said. “There’s nothing better than this.”
After being trained, Kamran spends his days hiring employees, talking to and providing estimates to customers, coming up with a marketing strategy and ultimately leading a team to paint a house.
Taylor Duncan, executive vice president of College Works Painting in Illinois, said more than 2,000 students apply for the management position internship. Kamran was one of 70 chosen this year to operate a business across the 19 states College Works operates.
“We like to think that we will train people to be significantly better than any other college student,” Duncan said.
Free estimates
Kamran’s goal is to oversee the painting of 25 houses over the summer and is already halfway toward his goal. To receive a free estimate from Kamran, call (630) 890-7919.
Quotable
“He’s a great kid and one of the best we have. He’s just one of those guys that you can’t beat having, and always has a smile on his face.” — Taylor Duncan, Executive Vice President of College Works Painting in Illinois
