Alice Eastman, Bolingbrook Park District’s Superintendent of Natural Resources, recently earned Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional certification after completing a 30-hour certification course administered by the Green Building Institute, according to a release issued by the Bolingbrook Park District.
Eastman, who earned the certification Dec. 30, is one of a select few outside the design and construction field to have earned the LEED AP certification, the release said.
To earn the designation Eastman demonstrated a thorough understanding of green building techniques, the LEED Green Building Rating System and the building certification process after completing the certification course.
Eastman, a Wheaton resident, was hired three years ago to manage the then-newly-created Department of Natural Resources for the Bolingbrook Park District, and will oversee the new nature center currently under construction near Hidden lakes Historic Trout Farm. Prior to being hired by the Bolingbrook Park District she served as manager of natural resources and interpretive services for three years at the Downers Grove Park District.
