D365-U after-school activities canceled today

Valley View Community School District 365-U has canceled all after-school activities today at each of the 20 district learning centers due to snow and a forecast of below-zero wind chill, school officials announced.
The district published the announcement at about 11:15 a.m. All students attending school will be bussed home at regularly scheduled times.
Among activities canceled are Bolingbrook High School Parent University, Hermansen Elementary School Science Club and Independence Elementary School Chess Club. There will be no early dismissal for ongoing classes.
Difficulties in mobilizing all school buses and a reluctance to release children to homes that may not have adequate parental supervision kept the district from enacting an early dismissal, officials said.
