Lemont, IL -

Police have still not been able to locate the getaway car used by three suspects in the Sept. 15 kidnapping of a Lemont mother and her child.

Authorities are hoping a person who narrowly missed a car accident with the fleeing suspects will come forward with a description of the vehicle, which could provide key evidence.

“Maybe somebody saw it and will put two and two together and contemplate if they should call us,” Lemont Police Chief Kevin Shaughnessy said. “It’s not unusual to get a call a week or so later.”

Three people from Chicago have been charged in connection with the kidnapping — Marcus A. Cadiz, 45, 5025 W. Belmont, Jose M. Trevino, 36, and Trevino’s wife, Rosa S. Trevino, 43, both of 3910 W. 62nd St. They each face two counts of aggravated kidnapping.

All three had a court date Thursday, Oct. 1.

A message left for attorney Karen Szpajer with the Cook County Public Defender’s Office, was not immediately returned Thursday. Szpajer is representing Jose Trevino and Cadiz. The Cook County Public Defender’s Office was unable to provide information on Rosa Trevino’s legal representation.

At about 1:15 p.m. Sept. 15, Lemont police responded to a 911 call from the victim’s boyfriend, who had been contacted by the alleged kidnappers demanding a $300,000 ransom for the woman and her child. The boyfriend reported the abduction had taken place at the woman’s Lemont home in the 600 block of Fourth Street.

Shortly after the kidnapping, the offenders fled northbound on Fourth Street and nearly got into a car accident at Fourth Street and McCarthy Road after blowing a stop sign, according to testimony from the victim.

The driver of the other car was angry and an argument ensued before the offenders took off, Shaughnessy said.

Now, police would like the driver of the other car to come forward and give them a lead on what type of vehicle was used in the alleged kidnapping.

So far, officers have not been able to locate the car.

The 31-year-old Lemont woman and her 5-month old were found unharmed in a Chicago home at about 12:45 p.m. Sept. 16 in the 6200 block of Springfield Avenue. Police found the woman blindfolded, duct taped and tied to a pole, police said.

The 5-month-old appeared to be unharmed.

Police said the crime was not random. The house where the woman and infant were taken from was on the market, being sold by the woman, who is a real estate agent. The alleged kidnappers booked an appointment online to come and view the house.

Once inside, they pulled a gun and bound and gagged the owner, according to police.
