Lemont, IL -

Village building officials are cautioning residents that temporary swimming pools holding 24 inches of water or more are not permitted in the village of Lemont unless they meet the same safety requirements as permanent above-ground swimming pools.

A permit is required for all above-ground swimming pools. Pools must be located in the rear yard and be protected by a minimum 5-foot barrier or a barrier affixed along the top of the pool edge with a minimum total height of not less than 5 feet. Inspections are required for pool location and for any related electrical connections.

Unprotected temporary pools are considered a life-safety hazard and can be ticketed. For more information and regulations pertaining to these pools, call Mark LaChappell at (630) 257-1580.
