Lemont, IL -

The forecasted rain will push back the completion of the Lemont Road Bridge slightly.

Village officials had hoped the construction project would be completed by the end of this month.

However, because of the expected showers, Illinois Department of Transportation officials will have to halt some of their work.

The $4.2 million bridge resurfacing project, which began in the spring, was made possible through federal stimulus dollars distributed through IDOT.

Village officials plan to split the traffic to the outside lanes in the northbound and southbound directions in the morning Monday, Nov. 2.

By the end of Monday, both lanes will be open in each direction.

“Over the next two weeks there will be some day time lane closures along the bridge, either the outside lanes or median lanes to finish up some minor work,” said Assistant Village Administrator Ben Wehmeier.

The lane closures will be during the day only and should not impact the intersection at Illinois Street, village officials said.

Bridge information will be put on the village’s Web site at lemont.il.us as well as through e-mail alerts and on the village's cable Channel 6.
