Community thanked for helping Special Olympics
Dear Lemont residents:

On behalf of the Special Olympians, their families and members of the Lemont Police Department, I would like to express my sincere appreciation for your generosity and support in helping make this year’s Cops on the Top fundraiser a huge success. Police agencies throughout Illinois partnered up with neighborhood Dunkin’ Donuts to raise money for a very worthwhile cause, Special Olympics.

The residents of Lemont showed their enthusiasm and generosity to help raise $3,027 for the 2009 Special Olympics. This surpassed last year’s amount of $3,020. This was the Lemont Police Department’s fourth annual Cops on the Top, and we hope to see you again next year. The officers, staff and volunteers were overwhelmed by the kindness displayed by all those who made a donation. Even though the economy has taken a hit, it was wonderful to see the citizens’ hearts have not been affected.

A special thank you goes to Mike Peterson at Dunkin’ Donuts on Derby Road, Jeff Metz of Pico Del Mundo, the Citizens Police Academy Alumni, Lemont Public Works, Jim Petkus of Petkus Funeral Home, STB Bank and Aunt Marlene’s Foundation.

Also with the help of the Aunt Marlene Foundation, Lemont was able to raise enough money to have the Lemont Police Department highlighted on the 2009 Special Olympics Torch Run T-shirts.

If you would like to purchase a Special Olympics Torch Run T-shirt, please contact the Lemont Police Department. The cost for each T-shirt is $20, and all proceeds go directly to Special Olympics.
