
Military notes
• Matthew Ruppert, a 2008 graduate of Lemont High School, successfully completed the requirements for graduation from the U.S. Navy Corpsman School in Great Lakes, Ill., Feb. 13. Matt will be stationed at the Bethesda Naval Hospital in Bethesda, Md., and is assigned to the USNS Comfort Hospital Ship. The Comfort has performed as a battle support ship as well as performing humanitarian aid missions serving the victims of both 9/11 and Katrina as well as good will missions throughout the Caribbean and South America.
• Army Pvt. Michael A. Stocker has graduated from the Infantryman One Station Unit Training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga. The training consists of basic infantry training and advanced individual training. Stocker is the son of Kenneth and Cindy Stocker of Lemont.
• Air Force Airman Adam J. Pierce graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills. Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force. He is the brother of Alan Pierce of Downers Grove.
