
Graduates
• The following students received degrees from North Central College at its 143rd commencement on June 7: Allison Carmen of Lemont received a bachelor of arts degree in organizational communication; Elena Falese of Lemont received a bachelor of arts degree in sociology, criminal justice and Spanish; Bradley Ristow of Lemont received a bachelor of arts degree in broadcast communication; Angela Szram of Lemont received a bachelor of arts degree in history.
Dean’s List
• Lauren Michele Medwed, Emily Anne Stoffels and Louis Sebastian Virtel, all of Lemont, were among 3,674 undergraduate students at the University of Iowa named to the Dean’s List for the 2008 spring semester. All students named to the list carried at least 12 graded hours during the semester and achieved a minimum 3.5 grade point average based on a 4.0 grade scale.
• Victoria Novakovich and Kathleen Slingerland, both of Lemont, have been named to the Dean’s List at Drake University. Novakovich and Slingerland achieved this academic honor by earning a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher during the spring 2008 semester at Drake. Drake is a private, independent university in Des Moines, Iowa.
Honor society
• Marisa E. DiMenna of Lemont was initiated into the Beta Psi chapter of Kappa Delta Pi, an international education honor society organized to recognize excellence in education. An individual becomes a member of the society by invitation from a local chapter based on high academic achievement, a commitment to education as a career and a professional attitude that assures the member’s steady growth in the field of education. DiMenna, a junior elementary education major, graduated from Lemont High School in 2005. She is the daughter of Greg and Sue DiMenna, also of Lemont.
