After losing to eventual champion Morton in the semifinals at last season’s Pepsi Showdown, Lyons Township’s boys soccer team was able to achieve even more success over the weekend.

Following a 2-1 double-overtime win over Metea Valley, the Lions qualified for the championship round, where they fell 2-1 in overtime to Libertyville. Against Metea Valley, Elliot Borge and Mark Pawula each scored a goal. Borge also collected LT’s lone score against Libertyville with a header.

The Lions qualified for the championship for the second time in three years and made their third overall appearance.
