The Riverside Police Department was awarded a grant from the Urban Area Security Initiative for the purchase of new, portable, interoperable radios.
The $120,000 grant will allow the department to purchase 20 radios, valued at $6,000 each.
The radios are interoperable with the Cook County Sheriff’s Department and Cook County’s Emergency Management Services, and will allow officers on patrol to community with other emergency responders in the county.
