Erin Travis goes above and beyond at her job, which is why she received the award for Heroes in Long Term Care from the Health Care Council of Illinois.
The award is given out every year by HCCI to staff members who have made a worthwhile contribution to those living in the facilities.
Travis, social service director at The Grove of La Grange Park, 701 N. La Grange Road, received the award in May during National Nursing Home Week.
The Grove is considered an extended care facility for short-term and long-term residents.
When she found out she was selected for the award she was very happy about it.
“I’m honored and pleased to receive recognition for my work,” she said.
Travis said she thinks she got the award for being dedicated to the residents there and working hard to see the residents’ stay is an enjoyable one.
Travis has worked for The Grove for about a year, and has worked in long-term care for about 10 years.
“I’ve always been interested in working with the senior population and found it to be my niche from the beginning,” she said.
One of the things she likes about her job is how she works with residents and helps resolve any issues or problems they are having while staying at The Grove.
Another thing Travis said she likes is seeing those who are there for rehabilitation make a nice recovery and get back home.
Quotable
“I love working with the residents here and like helping them achieve a better quality of life,” Travis said.
