BROOKFIELD
School arson reported
Arson was reported at about 12:45 a.m. Oct. 4 at Lincoln School, 4300 Grove Ave.

Lyons police notified Brookfield officers that a recycling container was on fire at the south end of the school. Officers arrived and saw smoke and fire coming from the container closest to the building. The Brookfield Fire Department extinguished the fire with minor damage to the container. Fire officials are not sure how the fire was started.

Bicycle stolen
A bicycle was stolen at about 10 p.m. Sept. 26.

The boy told police that his bike, a green Diamond Back Joker BMX bike, had been stolen while he was at the football game at Riverside Brookfield High School, 160 Ridgewood Road, Riverside.

He told police he had locked the bicycle to the stadium fence just off of Washington Avenue with a cable combination lock. When he returned to the fence after the game, the $250 bicycle and lock were gone.

Excessive noise reported
Officers responded to Tequila Mockingbird bar, 3733 Grand Blvd., at about 12:25 a.m. Oct. 4 after receiving complaints about the loud noise coming from the bar, police said.

Officers could hear music coming from the bar from more than 50 feet away, according to police.

They advised the bar owner of the complaints and issued a local ordinance citation for excessive noise. Another noise complaint was reported at about 1:20 a.m., police added.

Vehicle damaged
A woman came into the police station at about 6:10 p.m. Oct. 1 to report damage to her SUV.

The woman told police that when she got into her car that morning, she discovered a 4-foot plank of wood with nails through it affixed across the rear tires of her vehicle. One of her tires was punctured and part of the plastic molding behind the wheels was damaged.

She told police she parked the vehicle at about 7 p.m. the night before without any damage. She had since removed the plank and fixed the tire.

RIVERSIDE
Suspended license alleged
A woman was charged with driving with a suspended license after being stopped at 8:25 p.m. Sept. 30 the 2600 block of Harlem Avenue, police said.

Rachel Ybarra, 47, of Chicago  was stopped for having expired registration on her vehicle, according to police. She was issued citations for driving with a suspended license and expired registration, police said.

Accident not reported
A man was charged with leaving the scene of an accident after police were called at about 3:50 p.m. Oct. 1 in the 3500 block of South Harlem Ave.

Paulo Mancilla, 26, of Cicero, fled the scene and was stopped at Harlem and Ogden avenues by Berwyn police officers.

The victim told police he was stopped in traffic in the 3500 block of South Harlem when another car struck his vehicle from behind, police said. The victim was transported the MacNeal Hospital in Berwyn.

Mancilla was charged with driving with a suspended license, operation of uninsured motor vehicle, leaving the scene of an accident, driving too fast for conditions, and failure to report an accident.

LA GRANGE
Woman robbed in alley
A woman was robbed of an undetermined amount of money as she and a friend walked in the 100 block of Sawyer Avenue at 3:10 p.m. Oct. 2.

Police said the woman and her friend were walking down an alley when a man dressed in black clothing and wearing a white mask implied he had a gun and demanded money.

The woman complied, police said. The robber did not ask the man the woman was walking with for his wallet, police said.

The robber then ran westbound through residential yards, police said.

Neither the woman or her friend were harmed.

Police said the man was described as black, about 6-feet tall with a medium build. There are no suspects at this time and police are continuing to investigate.

Attempted burglary foiled
A neighbor foiled an attempted a home burglary at about 11:30 p.m. Oct. 2 in the 900 block of Eighth Avenue, police said.

A neighbor came home and saw someone trying to pry a screen from another person’s home, police said. The man ran south on Eighth Avenue when the neighbor asked what he was doing.

No one was home at the time of the burglary attempt, police said.

Drug possession alleged
A La Grange man was charged with possession of marijuana after being arrested at 1:40 p.m. Oct. 4.

Police said they had received calls of a suspicious-looking person walking in the area of Elm and Sixth avenues. Police responded and questioned Tyler Leonhard, 19, 231 S. Sixth Ave. Leonhard was searched, and officers found he was carrying a small amount of marijuana, police said.

WESTCHESTER
Bicycle stolen from yard
A bicycle was reported stolen from a home in the 1100 block of Newcastle Avenue at 8 a.m. Oct. 1. The silver “Mongoose” bicycle was unlocked and in the backyard of the home at the time of the theft, police said. No estimated loss value was provided.

GPS stolen from car
Police said a global positioning system unit was stolen from a car at 9:30 p.m. Sept. 29 at the Black Pearl Hair Salon, 10022 Roosevelt Road.

Entry to the car was gained after a passenger side window was broken with a rock, police said. The GPS unit was mounted on the dashboard at the time of the theft.

Burglary attempt reported
An attempted burglary was reported in the 1800 block of Portsmouth Avenue between 5 a.m. an 9:30 p.m. Sept. 30.

The side entrance door to the home was damaged with by a pair of vice grips on the door knob. Entry was not gained to the home, police said.

Man charged with DUI
A man was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol following a traffic stop at the corner of Boeger and Burns avenues at 3:30 p.m. Sept. 27, police said.

David Moore, 50, of Cicero was stopped by police after receiving several calls about Moore’s erratic driving as he drove west on Roosevelt Road, police said. Moore failed field sobriety tests and a breathalyzer test, police added.

Flag stolen from home
A Puerto Rican flag and pole was reported stolen from the front of a home in the 1800 block of Suffolk Avenue at 3:15 p.m. Sept. 27. The estimated loss is $40.
