Hearing on zoning code, pawn shops, to be held June 29

A public hearing to consider proposed amendments to La Grange’s zoning code permitted uses in the Central Commercial District will be held at 7:30 p.m. Monday, June 29, at the Village Hall, 53 S. La Grange Road.

The Plan Commission hearing was prompted by the application of a permit for a pawn shop at 71 La Grange Road.

The Commission will consider amendments that delete pawnshops, used building material stores, payday and title loan agents, monument retailers, ice dealers and swimming pool retailers from the list of permitted uses as well as deletion of firearms and ammunition stores from the special uses list.

Commissioners will also consider additions to the permitted and special uses lists including personal fitness training with related retail sales.

The commission will make  a recommendation on amendments that will  go to the Board of Trustees for consideration and action July 13.
