La Grange firefighters will be filling their boots to fight neuromuscular diseases on July 18 as part of their nationwide Fill-the Boot campaign to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
Firefighters will be located to take donations from 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the intersections of La Grange Road and Ogden Avenue, the La Grange Road and Stone Avenue train stations, Willow Springs Road and Cossitt Avenue, and Brainard Avenue at Burlington and Hillgrove Avenue.
Donations are used for research to fight muscular dystrophy, clinics, support summer camps and support groups, provide wheelchairs, leg braces and communication devices.
The International Association of Firefighters raised $25 million for MDA nationwide. The La Grange Fire Department Fill-the-Boot campaign alone raised a record $6,305 and hope to raise at least $8,000 this year.
