A live demonstration of the Health-E-System will take place at 2 p.m. May 15 at La Grange Pointe, 51E. Cossitt Ave.
The Health-E-System, which looks like a typical lounge chair, allows residents of the retirement community of La Grange Pointe to have their vital signs taken with the information automatically sent to a nurse call center.
The presence of the Health-E-System at La Grange Pointe is part of a clinical trial conducted by Cardiomedix and Commwell, the Evanston companies that developed the system.
La Grange Pointe was chosen as the clinical trial site because it is one of a few standing independent retirement communities for seniors ages 62 and older in the area.
The Health E-System monitors can be placed in any type of chair.
