Former Illinois Treasurer and State Senator Judy Baar Topinka will make her bid for state comptroller official Sunday.
Topinka, a resident of Riverside, will hold a press conference at 11 a.m. at Ina’s Restaurant, 1235 W. Randolph St. to announce she will seek the Republican nomination for the comptroller’s seat in February’s primary.
Also vying for the nomination are William Kelly, host of a television sports program, and Orland Park Village Trustee Jim Dodge.
Current state Comptroller Daniel Hynes is running against Governor Pat Quinn for the democratic nomination for governor.
Topinka, who served as treasurer from 1995 to 2007, lost to Gov. Rod Blagojevich in her bid for Governor in 2006.
She is also the former chairwoman of the Illinois Republican Party.
